New Wal-Mart?
Biking past a parked car this morning, I saw a sign posted in the window. It read:
“No New Wal-Mart at the corner of SE McLoughlin and Tacoma!”
Anybody know anything about this?

Sam Adams – City Commish – has been working on this:

Read bout it at his blog.
My understanding is that Wal-Mart has purchased the old Goodwill site and plan to erect a store there. While this is possible, and even probably true, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because the existing infrastructure could not possibly sustain a Wal-Mart. Still, there’s already active opposition:

It doesn’t seem like the best place to me, either.
Well, I had an article on it in Clackablog, which you can find by Googling it.
It would probably be cheaper than a neutron bomb, if your aim was to completely destroy entrepeneurial retail in downtown Milwaukie.
That _is_ what PDC’s all about, right?
Terry Olsen has posted several comments about this proposal on his blog OlsonOnline(http://joesschool.blogs.com/olsononline/).
Thanks for the URLs, y’all.
Is ANYBODY for Wal-mart? It’s difficult for me to comprehend.
