A Texans Social Club?

Yesterday I met four Texans. To tell the truth, I’m unsure whether they’re more accurately Texans or ex-Texans, but the meetings, which occurred at separate times, seemed both coincidental and highly significant.

I offhandedly commented that I wanted to start a Texans social club (“You can take a Texan out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of a Texan”?) and the last two folks that I met were all for the idea.

And why not? Up on Alberta, if the banner outside of (soon-to-be closed) Joe’s Place is to be believed, there exists (-ed?) a Louisianans social club.

So I guess I’m polling y’all: is there anybody out there who would sincerely be interested in a Texans social club? Because it’d sure be nice to find some other folks with whom to drink Shiners.

    Hi,

I am a Texan living in Boston. I will be out in Portland on Aug. 10th. Where can I find a good bar in Portland to drink a few Shiners? If I want Shiner in Boston I have to import it from Maryland!

There are billboards all over town proclaiming Shiner, here in Portland! It’s kind of exciting, though I heard that they’d sold out to get here. I don’t know, but I’m not going to question it. Yet. I’ll have to get back to you on good bars…if only because my weekend just started, and I’ll now have the time to do the research.
