Best/Worst Gresham eateries
I spend more time than I wish in Gresham, and as-such, I’ve had more meals than I want in this sleepy Portland suburb.
In recognition of my status as the Metblog Best/Worst Guy, and by way of apology for my recent slacking, I offer this latest insight.
BEST:
Giuseppe’s — By far not my favorite Italian place in the vast Portland Metroplex, but to be honored for the sheer magnitude of their offerings, as well as the delicious relish plates (consisting of slices of pepperoni and salami, pepperoncini’s, and cheese sticks) that they often bring prior to your meal.
McCrae’s — This monument to girth always astounds. I looked at their menu during lunch today and had great difficulty finding something not identified as HUGE! or BIG! I opted for the Reuben, which, by omission, appeared to rank as NORMAL! and still got my gut bombed. For sheer economy, you can’t beat McCrae’s.
Wall Street Pizza — An under-appreciated pizzaria in the Portland area, also (much like everything in the ‘Sham) notable for large portions. And the recent addition of free refills to soda makes them a must-try.
WORST:
Typhoon! — I like Typhoon, but the Gresham branch sucks by virtue of the ominous silence always encountered there, and because this restaurant (along with the local Koji’s) really just don’t belong this far east in Multnomah County.
So, that’s my rant. Notice I didn’t list too many bad restaurants in Gresham? That’s because I’ve learned to stick with the good stuff, because out here you don’t want to know what the bad stuff is like. Any must-misses that you’re aware of???

One of my fave places to eat here was a place called Joy & Luck. Someone bought out their location, though, and I haven’t seen it pop up anywhere else. They had excellent food (my husband is Asian and he ate there several times a week for lunch) for really good prices.
I also like La Costita. I’ve eaten at both the Gresham and Troutdale locations. I love their tacos and their salsa.
