Back to school

I’ve been MIA lately - instead, I’ve been dealing with the logistics of getting two kids back to school. The school supplies. The new bus routes to school. The metric ton of paper that comes home the first few days (much of which needs to be filled out and returned, usually accompanied by payment for this, that, or the other thing.)

But now that we’re settling into a new groove, I have the following observations and/or questions for y’all (and you can play along whether or not you’ve got kids in PPS, of course…):

  • Traffic snafus (speed limits, crossing guards, etc.): Better, worse or more of the same?
  • Abernathy parents - how’s the transition going to a full-year school?
  • If your school closed & you’ve been transitioned to a new one - what kind of job has the district done to ease your trauma? What has your new school culture done to welcome you? What could have been done differently?
  • From my ‘it’d be nice if we had the money…’ musings: I’d love to be able to fill out and/or update the rafts of forms online, if possible. And regular electronic transfers into a student cafeteria account - or, better yet, student debit card of sorts? Much more safe than sending cash or checks along with your kid, no?
  • Does anyone ever buy that supplemental insurance program?

Do you have any observations or rants you’d like to share with the class? Comment away…

    Did Abernathy go year-round?

I am sad in the mornings not to see the kids walking by our house on the way to Edwards.
