Linfield Wildcats advance in NCAA Div III playoffs
Linfield thumped Occidental today in a 63-21 rout. When it gets to the playoffs, one would think the games wouldn’t be lopsided, but then again, Linfield has been averaging over 45 points per game all season.
Linfield quarterback Brett Elliott passed for a school-record 525 yards and seven touchdowns, raising his career total to 102. The senior All-American completed 31 of 41 passes as the Wildcats (9-0) ran their winning streak to 22 games, rolling up 698 yards of offense. Occidental (9-1), champion of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, ended its season with a loss to the Wildcats for the second season in a row.
Linfield now turns it’s juggenaut of a quarterback toward Concordia-Moorhead of Moorhead, MN. The Cobbers are 9-1, having lost to St. Johns, who has been a thorn in Linfield’s side in past playoffs. I can see Linfield playing St. John’s on Dec. 3 if both advance.
