Can I have a Spoon please?

So, like, does anyone know who Spoon is? Do they rock? Are they some cheesy indie rock band from the late 90’s that was never on my radar until now? I have no idea. But I do know that the Crystal Ballroom only charged us $9.47 per ticket to go and see them tonight. And well, can you really beat $9.47 for a live show? Crosstide is opening and well, I know they’re from Portland and I must support my local bands and all.

I’m going, though I really couldn’t tell you a single song I know from Spoon. I get this idea they’ve been around for a hundred years, but suddenly they are 94.7’s “I Knew Them When” bands. Oh God how it makes me sick. Gag me. What an insult. But still, $9.47, it can’t be beat for live music, especially at the Crystal. It so lives up to it’s name. Ahhh. To stand there in the middle of that dance floor and let the music consume me. Ahhhhhh…..

If you happen to go tonight, let me know what you think. There’s nothing better in my opinion than live music. Especially when it’s cheap and I’m in the mood for something new.

one of the better rock bands out there right now. they are not from Portland (Austin) although I think the lead singer Britt Daniel lives here now.

You should have a great time.

Did you like Spoon? I took my girlfriend (whom loves the band) and my stepsister that was visiting from Columbus, Ohio (whom had never heard of them) . We all loved it, great band. I like how the lead singer tossed out a “who saw us at EJ’s”reference. For those who are new to town EJ’s was a great punk rawk dive on Sandy that closed down 4-5 years ago. I wish I would have been at that “I saw them when” show.
