Dandy’s at the wonder ballroom
so, just spent the last two evenings with the dandy warhols. yep, the dandy warhols. i first saw them with my girlfriend in seattle at the crocodile cafe. (the bjm were there too and i didn’t even know it.) i didn’t like it.
the next time we saw them was at the roseland theater and they rocked the house. omg, the first 30 minutes were like 7 notes and amazing. we loved it. the next time we saw them was in support for the Tsunami victims. i was so glad to see them raise $25,000 plus for the tsunami victims. btw, that too was a good show.
well, now it’s the latest tour that came to town to both the Wonder Ballroom and the Crystal Ballroom. obviously we went to both! who wouldn’t. i have to say, i enjoyed the wonder ballroom show better only because it was a new venue. to be honest, and i know writing this i’ll get a rash of sh$$, they didn’t do it! they didn’t perform to what they could. it seemed like they were just going through the motions, playing the music as it was originally written as if the scores were in front of them. also, courtney taylor taylor taylor taylor taylor taylor taylor taylor… oops, typing error… his voice just wasn’t up to par. i’m gonna give him a pass since its the end of the tour, but then again, he’s a professional isn’t he?…?..? one thing i hated (as if i’m not hating enough) was when Zia (drinking the entire show) took her first pottie break. well, then she too two more. she did the same thing during the Crystal show too as if it’s a scheduled event. i’ve been to 3hr BJM shows where no one left the stage. I have been to U2 shows that lasted 2 hrs and bono didn’t have to go use the facilities. what’s up?
so, in the end, i did actually enjoy the show. they performed well, albeit perfunctory, and the sound at the wonder was excellent. i enjoyed the end with drummer boy and the christmas spirit that came with it. i didn’t enjoy the teenie bopper crowd as both shows were all ages. i didn’t enjoy that courtney taylor taylor taylor taylor has and attitude that he has to share with the crowd. i didn’t enjoy that there is no encore. so, i give them a….wait for it…it’s coming….oohhhh…..7, on a scale of 1-10.
