Random PDX mid-holiday flotsam

  • Did you know that if you show your monthly TriMet transit pass at the Starbucks on NE MLK near Multnomah, you’ll get 10 cents off your drink order? (I don’t know if all Starbucks do this, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, does it?) Guess it wasn’t so dorky after all to wear the thing around my neck this morning…
  • Note to store owners with those perma-on neon ‘Open’ signs: if your lights are off and the chairs on top of the tables on Christmas Day, you are, in fact, not open (and should probably unplug those signs, no?)
  • I am now a Pioneer Organics convert – we got our inaugural box last week full of good stuff. And the whole process gave me those warm and fuzzy HomeGrocer.com vibes (I was a huge HomeGrocer.com fan – still cherish my coffee mug and mouse pad, in fact.) Inspired to try it yourself? Say I recommended you (betsywhim at gmail dot com) and help my kids eat more veggies with the referral credit I’ll receive, heh.

Oh! I loved HomeGrocer. I have 2 different magnets on my fridge from them, and I sing the song from their TV ad all the time.

Coffee People will do discounts like these, too. As will Stumptown, in select locations. I used to work in the Wilcox Building downtown & they’d give people who worked in the building 10% instead of 10 cents. So if you loaded up with that large Velvet Hammer, they were knocking about 50 cents off the cost.
