The buses aren’t running on time…
…or on any schedule that makes sense - as Greyduck and I both discovered this morning.
I’d heard ‘Saturday schedule’, so adjusted my thinking accordingly. But what’s this? The little flyer you can pick up (once you’ve boarded a bus, that is) contains phrases like this:
- Saturday schedule plus 8 early morning and 6 late night trips (for the #1 Greeley bus and several others, for example)
- Weekday schedule (if you ride the #43 Taylors Ferry route or 28 other routes)
- And if you ride the #95? (or 11 other routes) You’re SOL today - they’re cancelled.
or this
From what Greyduck says, the schedules in the shelters downtown themselves are off, as was his PDA tracker - but I did just discover a customized version of Trip Planner, just for today (it’s normally my favorite method to determine what’s what…)
Finally, TriMet has the following caveats posted - along with a warning that a late afternoon march might play further havoc with the planned schedules. Okay, okay - I can buy that. But what’s with all of the extra early-morning trips - but no corresponding rush hour service home (many of the lines that offer early morning extra runs aren’t repeating that in the afternoon, it seems…)?
Couldn’t we at least have had a little consistency here, people?
Your best bet, if you absolutely, positively have to get there via mass transit & don’t have access to a computer? Call TriMet & see if someone there can make any sense of it all…

I normally rely on my PDA scheduler, which universally lists Sunday schedules for all routes today. The displays downtown agreed with my PDA. So, who am I to question two TriMet-provided sources of information? *shrug* That’ll teach me.
Note to self: Go to their website before leaving the house on a holiday.
I knew there was a reason I own a car. I need to get to work and back on a reliable schedule. It takes me 20 minutes to drive the 16 miles to work and on TriMet it only takes 90 minutes - after I drive 10 minutes to the nearest MAX station since TriMet cancelled the bus that used to be two blocks from the house. Sorry, just had to vent…
The schedule said that the 94 (Sherwood Express) wasn’t running Monday, so I take the 12 (Barbur Blvd.) downtown instead. Who passes us on the road? The 94 bus! What’s up with that?
