I see that About.com, which is a compendium of “Guide”- written sites about several hundred topics, has named a Guide for its Portland site.
So say hello to Nancy Levenson. I don’t know her, but her bio page says this 10-year-plus Portland resident is into restaurants, art, parks and shopping.
Each of those criteria- CHECK.
“Portland is a hub of wonderful things: unbridled creativity, amazing cuisine, progressive politics, cutting-edge music, natural beauty, educated people, healthy living ‚Ķ the list goes on and on,” she writes. “I‚Äôm here to show you a unique view of the city, whether you‚Äôre just visiting or you‚Äôve lived here for years.”
Nancy is off to a great start. Plus, Nancy’s degree in sociology ( I have one of those, too) has equipped her well for topical treatments that thankfully, are insightful and not catalog copy-ish like some other Portland-oriented copy you will read online (never here, tho’) or in dead-tree form.
You should check out her articles on house-hunting, love books (like at Powell’s), gyms, and the fact that our weather doesn’t suck like so many out-of-towners seem to think it does.
