Amanda Fritz’ website is on the fritz

Update: Site is back up this a.m. but is awfully s-l-o-w to load

And that’s not a pun.

The 47 year-old citizen activist, running for Dan Saltzman’s Portland City Council seat, has her own website, at http://www.amandafritzforcitycouncil.com/.

That’s not surprising.

But at 8 p.m. tonight I tried her site from multiple connections, and well, her last name matches the state of her website.

Who knows, maybe she and or her staff have gone in and are changing some things.

Or maybe she already knows and is trying to reach her website host.

If Fritz doesn’t know, then what does that say about her ability to stay on top of stuff? Core skill set for a City Commissioner, don’t ya think?

Hey we all know when it comes to website tech, site happens.. but IMHO doesn’t look good on a Sunday nite where voters are perusing ballots just received yesterday.

The woman who runs Amanda’s site also runs Oregonmediainsiders.com, and that’s down too. Looks like it’s a problem that outside of Amanda’s immediate control

Yeah, I really wouldn’t blame her or draw any larger conclusions from this.

    Everyone has outages; shit happens.

Amanda Fritz should have worked out a strategy with her techs.

Monitoring by site host- and have someone from hosting service available 24/7, even on pretty April evenings.

Redundant backup. Many hosting svcs offer this.

Worst-case scenario- webhost ought to offer customized “we’re working on it” page. But right now since you get page not found could lead some visitors into thinking they may have typed the wrong address….

    First impressions…

All understood – for a commercial entity, that is.

    I think you’re being unduly harsh here…

The site is up. I don’t know if it looks any different than before last night’s outage.

I’m sorry, Russ, but I really don’t think a short website outage is cause to say Fritz is unsuitable for City Council. I think wasting millions on a Water Bureau billing software, a bad aerial tram deal, and a poorly written VoE cash give away are more significant signs of incompetence.

The Internet is only one small part of life. Maybe you should get off the computer once in a while.

Yeah, redundancy can be had, but it’s expensive. Do you really think that’s the smartest way for her to spend her limited campaign money?
