Guess where Emilie’s money is?
It occured to me on the bus home tonight that the rest of Emilie Boyles’s money (which, of course, isn’t really Emilie’s money) could be holed up in some interest-bearing account until the last possible minute it needs to be turned back over to city officials.
Does that mean that she’d ‘earn’ the interest on the money - or does she have to give it back?
If no - well, that opens up a whole new wealth of possibilities for just where that money might be right now, doesn’t it?
She could:
- In true ‘buy low, sell high’ fashion, it might be invested in the stock market.
- Offshore Internet gambling, anyone? Maybe her daughter hasn’t just been developing an expertise in Internet marketing…
Where do you think the money is?

Well, her new “intentionally unincorporated watchdog organization that neither accepts or distributes funds” must be getting money from SOMEWHERE….
Don’t you think she’s spent most of it? She has no visible means of support. She’s looking at bankruptcy, maybe criminal prosecution… I’d say a person in her position would be tempted to spend it at Albertson’s.
The city will never get back a penny.
I honestly don’t get it.
If she intends to keep the other 68K, what credibility does she think she has to put forth her long list of demands and/or manifestos on her website? Last I checked, the city shouldn’t be paying close to another city council salary to promote her initiatives, should they?
If I were going to stiff the city, I’d be too embarrassed to keep up a public presence. But that’s me…
