My daughter and I happened to stumble upon the Guns N Rollers practicing on the asphalt at Buckman School as they were getting ready for next Saturday’s throwdown.

Since Diselboi’s raved before about roller derby and the Rose City Rollers league, we stopped for a minute to check out the action. I got a chance to talk to an injured Roller on the sidelines; she urged us both to come out to next week’s match at the Portland Expo Center (details in the second link above) – tickets are 12 bucks if you buy them in advance via TicketsWest, 15 bucks at the door.

After watching for a few minutes, my eight year old wants a pair of roller skates. Wants to go to the derby. And I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that she wants to join a junior league. Note to self: review her heath insurance policy pronto…
