Walla Wallas and My Wallet

Driving around this morning, I saw that Burgerville is advertising their Walla Walla onion rings again. I’ll admit, I love ‘em. I’ll also admit, I don’t love the price. At about a buck a ring, it’s good they only come once a year. Then I had an idea: I’ve got two hands… I have a fry daddy, and I am perfectly capable of going to the store. Why not try to make some good onion rings at home? I could use a fine Portland brew for the batter. A google search for onion ring recipes brings back just short of a zillion hits, so I thought I’d throw this one out to the onion-loving metblog readers: what’s your favorite homemade onion ring recipe?

Sorry, can’t help - while I love my walla wallas, I prefer them grilled after a brief marinade in balsamic/olive oil.

But I’m sure someone else here can help - right?
