Why I love Doug Fir - Binary Dolls

I know I’ve posted my undying love of the Doug Fir before, but I just have to repeat myself. The Doug Fir RAWKS! Last night, we enjoyed the music of both the Binary Dolls and The Stars of Track and Field - FOR FREE. Yes, yet another free show, courtesy of the Doug. See, they have this cool mailing list that announces upcoming shows and usually, they offer some free tickets to show every weekend. As a result, we’ve been able to catch some great music we normally wouldn’t have listened too.
Personally, I enjoyed the Binary Dolls more than the headliner. These three boys (one from Canada at least) put on a fun and enjoyable set. Most of their music is quasi melodic, but what sets them off is the crazy drummer. I can’t describe him other than saying - ADD. He jumps around, swings his arms, stands up, sits down and bounces the entire song. I knew nothing of their music, yet toward the end of the set, I too was shuffling my feet and dancing about. I’m now surfing the web, trying to find more info about these guys and get some of their music.
The headliner, The Stars of Track and Field had a good sound, yet it didn’t capture me. I only heard them once before, last summer, so didn’t know what to expect. They are a tight band, so I’ll need to give them another chance before I decide whether they are the band for me. You should check them out. They are local, so it shouldn’t be difficult to catch a show. Also, I dig the cravats. The drummer should wear one also.
To sum up - Binary Dolls: Thumbs up; Stars of Track and Field: Thumbs wagging; Doug Fir: two thumbs up.

hi guy, sorry you didn’t dig our show (or our style) the other night. I don’t know what Blake is, and I can’t spend too much money and I don’t really wanna wear a cravat. So, I was hoping you could hone the advice a little more. By the way, I am glad the show was free for you- I would feel even worse if you had actually paid. No Big loss, eh?

The lead singer of SOT&F really is a cutie. REALLY.

PS. I think dieselboi may have been trying to be a little sarcastic with the cravat remark!!

    Dan,
I re-read my post after your comment and decided I must have been hungover when I wrote it. ack! You guys are a pretty good band and I do enjoy your style - cravat and all. I was just trying to be snarky and it probably came off as mean. I’m one of those music listeners who need to listen to the cd 9 times before I go - hey, these guys are kinda good. Then they will become my favorite band. I will see you again, I gotta now.
    Good luck.
