The Lilys at Doug Fir
Why I love the Doug Fir part 2. Again with the free show on a night I hadn’t planned on going out - last night. Oh well, its free and I can sleep when I’m dead. One thing to remember about the Doug Fir is that even on a school night, the show will be over by midnight, not 2 or 3 am.
We arrived for the second band of the night - The High Violets. They are pretty good. The band was shoegazer/shimmery/psychedelic with a wonderful female lead singer. The had one of those voices that just pulled you in and kept you wanting more.
The headliner, The Lilys were choice. They came out and put on a great rock show. I was told they may be a bit poppy, but they weren’t. The lead singer looked like a young David Bowie in some light and had a sense of humor that left me wanting for more. I have no idea how to review the music other than I enjoyed it and grooved the entire time. One could also find me tapping my foot during a few songs. Also, the lead guitarist looked like he was twelve. And he could play that guitar well. So even if he was twelve- dude - Rawk On!
Yay Doug Fir! Yay live music.
