One of the Last Ever Sleater-Kinney Posts*

Tickets are in hand, man. Got in line around 8a.m. on Saturday morning along with a bunch of the people in this picture from last weekend who had once again queued up for a chance to see the band one last time. It was kind of amazing how many familiar faces I saw just from the line the previous Saturday. I was about 20th in line this time, and the guy in line behind me had actually been able to get tickets through the evil Ticketmaster last weekend but was in line this time for more. The line was probably about 100 strong by the time the box office opened at noon, so I’m guessing (hoping) that everybody there was able to get tickets this time. I just checked Ticketmaster, and both shows once again appear to be sold out, as tickets are unavailable to either one.

The Saturday show seemed to be a bit more popular with the in-line crowd, as it looked like folks really wanted to see them the very, very last time, and that’s the show I’m going to… and I’m bringing my mother of all people (she’ll be in town that weekend and didn’t want to stay home). Anyway, hope you got yours; it’s likely to be the best show ever.

There’s also an interesting article about the break-up of the band and how it relates to the feminist movement in pop and rock over at salon.com if anybody’s interested.

*look for a review of the show after the fact
