We’re Going Straight to Hell

This doesn’t really shock me, but USA Today has released a survey (link requires Flash) that found Washington state has the highest percentage of the population (25%) that identify as having “no religion”. Oregon is fourth-highest at 21%.

Does this surprise anyone? We’re definitely not in the Bible belt, but I’ll be honest I’m surprised that we’re at the top (or bottom) of the list. Everywhere I turn, in my neighborhood, at my job, and in civic groups, I keep running into more and more Mormons (I’m sure their liberal breeding policy has something to do with it).

Could it be that folks are realizing that religion really doesn’t matter? Personally that’s my view as an agnostic. And on that note I leave you with a quote I recently came across (but can’t find the source because I’m probably butchering it):
“Prayer: The art of doing nothing but thinking you’re helping.”
