They get you to pull over in some parking lot somewhere, isolate you, and either offer you a counterfeit cashier's check or money order in exchange for the title right now. You end up with nothin' and they get your car to part out or sell for some quick cash down the line. By the time you've deposited the check and it's failed to clear, they're long gone. I've read about this happening in Portland before, but it was a while ago. But, of course, there are lots and lots of folks that still might fall for this, particularly older folks (not saying you're older, just talking about typical victims of the scam).
