A Developer’s dream..

So what do you do with three mobile home parks that sit inbetween the Nike headquarters and a Tektronics plant in Beaverton? The Sawara Property Group answered that question today by announcing their plans to evict all tenants and redevelop the land. The property groups plans include a mix of residential and commercial developments to replace the mobile home parks.

I’m kinda divided on things like this. It would be really hard if you are one of the people living in these parks. There are probably people that have been there for a long time that will be forced to leave by this time next year. On the other hand I understand how the owner of the property probably wants to make the most of their investment in the land. At least the park owners have planned a relocation fair for those that need assistance. They are also offering a nice little $5,500 check to those that can get themselves out by February. It will be interesting to see what goes up in this golden piece of land in the next few years. I have a feeling we might see some nice expensive condo’s for all those Nike folk..

Actually, the 5K check is a horrible return on investment for many of these people – especially those with older trailers that can’t even be moved.

10-4 Betsy, the majority of people in those parks are elderly or disabled. They have older trailers and not much else. Try finding a place to park a 20 yr old mobile home within walking/ power chair distance of shopping and MAX. I hope the county zoning board nixes the developers plan unless he makes better provision for the people he’s uprooting.
