Little Miss Sunshine: The Review
This evening was the previously mentioned free screening of Little Miss Sunshine, the newly released Steve Carell movie. Most people will call it the Steve Carell movie, but it’s a team effort: Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin, and the spectacular Abigail Breslin (she was the little girl in “Signs” with all the water that was contaminated.)
This was the best movie I have seen in I don’t even know how long. It’s a twisted movie, there’s no question, and it’s a funny movie, and a serious movie, and a dark movie, and a heartwarming movie. There are some moments where half of your brain goes “oh I did NOT just see that” and the other half of your brain goes “I just saw that and it was AWESOME!” There are some moments in the film that are as real and as touching as I think I’ve ever seen on film. This isn’t a film for everyone, I assure you, but if it’s your thing, well, this is about as good as it gets. And it would seem that I am not the only one who thinks so.
So if you get a chance, and twisted hilarious not very family oriented films about family are your bag baby, run don’t walk. A delight beginning to end.
