Walk Up Window — Why?
The Starbucks located in Pioneer Courthouse Square now has a Walk Up Window.
Why??
A drive-up window lets you order your goodies without having to stop, park, and actually go inside the restaurant. But, if you’re on foot anyway, how much time are you really going to save by standing in line at the walk-up window instead of standing in line at the counter?
Was there sufficient customer outcry to justify this addition? Were there really people pounding on the countertop and yelling at the baristas: “Dammit! I could have had my VentiHalfCaffDoublePumpVanillaQuadShotSoyLatte by now if only you had a walk-up window!”
I don’t get it.

Certainly might minimize loss of cooled or warmed air when the door opens.
this is the shop in the corner by Sharper Image correct? If so, it may have more to do with the mall than to do with Starbucks. That location always has a long line spilling into the walkway of the mall, so Starbucks may have been “asked” to move that line outside instead.
just a thought.
Nope. This is the Starbucks in the Square itself. Here’s a pic of the walk-up window on the back of the building:

An outside window in the Pioneer Place Starbucks would actually make sense. Well, as much sense as having a Starbucks on the first AND third floors of the same building.
Well, at least it gives a nod to walking.
Or standing, anyway.
oops, misread that it was in the Square.
yeah, that doesn’t make much sense. then again, you head out to Eastport Plaza and there are 5 starbucks within walking distance as each store has their own.
Maybe it’s for people with dogs? Dunno if they let dogs into Starbucks, but I’m guessing not. Or maybe smokers who don’t want to stub out their butts while ordering coffee.
