Seen outside Mississippi Station

bike chalk shadow

I was wandering up N. Mississippi and saw that Mississippi Station’s side patio has a movie screen painted on the opposite building. I took a closer look and saw this cool chalk shadow of a bike. Someone took the time to really do a great job. I love Portland’s love of bikes.
I also saw that Mississippi Station (affiliated with Mississippi Studios live music venue) has silent movies nightly on the patio. Tonight’s film was a Buster Keaton flick if I remember correctly. On Wednesday’s they have live music also. I think it would be cool to sit out in the evening with a cocktail and enjoy a silent movie with friends. How often do you get to do that? If you do, take a sweatshirt, summer’s evening heat is waning.

There was a really neat long chalk shadow of a stop sign about a month or so ago down the street from Ken’s Artisan Bakery that I saw and tried to capture with my phone… sadly the lighting was poor.

    yeah chalk shadows

I love being able to go in there and find something to fit my mood; I can get a burger and fries with a PBR or a full-on gourmet apps with an up drink. Happy hour has $1 PBR pints!

I love their patio — and the movies and music are an added bonus. Plus the food is fantastic. Had halibut in a tomato/fennel broth the other day that was flat-out amazing. A great place to relax with a beer and friends!
