Storm Large, her name, and genetics
Yes, I know that Storm Large sounds like a stage name, but the actual given name of Portland’s entry into the Rock Star:Supernova contest is- as many of you know-Susan Storm Large.
The other day, the thought came to me that many last names that perpetuate to this day were assigned hundreds of years ago as descriptive characteristics. Was your ancestor a baker, a mason, or shepherd? That’s how he- and through the generations the male line in your family- kept that name. Did your ancestor live at the edge of town? Townsend, or Townshend, like Pete.
Was one of your male ancestors well, Large? Height and other physical characteristics can be inherited, of course.
See where I am going with this?
Storm Large is, what, six feet, and is rather full-figured.
Storm Large, were your ancestors, well, Large?

My last name is “Plump”. I am fortunately quite skinny. It’s a pretty rad last name, IMO. German, I think, but I have no idea what (if anything) it means in German, only that it’s pretty funny in English.
my first name when translated into German = plank. In the German lands, Spaetzle is a common dish. When making Spaetzle, one uses a wooden board similar to a cutting board and it’s called a “Spaetzle Plank.” So, when I would introduce myself, people woudln’t know what to do with my first name. “Why would anyone be named “plank.”
My last name when translated into German (I’m Swiss) means hole puncher. Like one who punches holes into leather. Let me know if you need any hole punching done. Nice!
My last name is “Moon”.
My dad’s dad, an old drunk, told me when I was 5 or 6 that he invented “mooning”.
I wish I was kidding.
Not sure of the truth of that, but… yeah.
My French last name, by way of Arkansas, is roughly translated as “The Villain”. Apparently my first name means “I” in Arabic. Obivously I am the incarnation of Pure Evil.
Storm is by far the most talented one on rockstar:supernova!
