Ayyy Matey, Pirates to storm St. Johns

Ever wondered what it was like to be a pirate? Are you kids huge pirate fans after the success of Captain Jack? Are you a fan of Captain Jack? This weekend, you’ll get your chance to do all things PIRATE! And it all will start off with a bang from cannon firing.
Portland’s pirates kick off their first ever festival this weekend - The Portland Pirate Festival and you are invited up to Cathedral Park in St. Johns for the fun. There will be tall ships, grub and grog, activities for the kids, live music and PIRATES of course.
I don’t know if other cities do pirate activities as well as Portland. In the past year, there has been a Pirate pub-crawl and numerous festivities with pirates at local movie theaters when Pirates of the Caribbean came out. And now this.
Also, the Tall Ships will be available for viewing at the Madison st. docks downtown before and after the event on Saturday.

Portland Pirate Festival
Saturday, September 23, 10am-10pm

Every Year the “Power Squadron” Yacht club has a pirate cruise on the Columbia. They take over lemon island for an entire weekend. There are lots of pirate related activities and of course treasure hunts.

Where is Lemon Island? Also, are these modern yachts or tall ships? That would be a fun event to take part in.

Lemon Island is on the Columbia near Camas Washington. I am not sure of the varity of ships that participate as it is my children that Attend. Their grand parents are members of the club.

I don’t much care for boating. I feel constrained to the boat when I am onboard and get very board myself. Not that I am cluasterphobic. I just need to be able to roam free.
