Bike Worship
I saw this graffiti today in the bus mall. I think it’s pretty cool, but
I can’t figure out if they’re Satanist bikers or Pagan bikers.
I’d like to think it’s a group of Pagan bikers. Out there riding in circles, under the full moon at midnight, in Washington Park, naked.
Well, at least that’s my dream.
And now a haiku:
Pagan bikers ride
Naked flesh in the moonlight
Wash my seat at dawn
There’s a bikeportland.org post on this from a while ago: http://bikeportland.org/2006/08/30/mystery-bike-stencils-pop-up-around-city/
Apparently it was designed by Colorado messenger Dave Strunck.
It was very improper of you to glamorize graffiti in this manner.
You graffiti glamer you!!! How improper, no one in portland should ever prctice civil disobedience.
OBEY! OBEY! OBEY!

Graffiti is a way to remind us that our neighborhood belongs to humans, not faceless walls and machines. It’s art, not vandalism. Reconnect with your primal cave-painting instinct; make your spaces your own.
Sarah – if it’s YOUR space, go to it. But if you are putting unwanted decoration on someone else’s property, regardless of the aesthetic value, it’s vandalism.
