Six Figures of Security

Mo Money! The Department of Homeland Security is giving $800,000 to TriMet for light rail security and another $150,000 to C-Tran for bus security.

I’m sure there’s folks at TriMet and C-Tran plotting how to spend their newfound loot. Remember folks, the money came from you, not the magical government fairy. Which makes me ponder how would the public like to see transit security money spent? More cameras? Strip searches as you board? The FAA has air marshals. How about transit marshals? Or more realistically, more transit police (real police, not those “Portland Patrol” wannabes)?

How would you spend your transit security dollars?

After my experience with the coward who wore the uniform of Portland Patrol, I would vote for more security. The guy heard us yelling for police, acknowledged us and then turned and rode away. We had to wait for real Police to arrive.

    grrr.

I’d give it back to the taxpayers.
