Reverse 911 to Begin Large Scale Testing

A couple months ago I posted about Clark County installing a Reverse 911 system that would allow emergency management authorities to use an automated system to notify residents of emergency situations via telephone. On November 14th at 9am there will be a large scale test of this system involving 10,000 homes. Smaller scale testing has been successful and during this drill, folks will receive a recorded message announcing the test of the system.

As I noted before, the important things to remember about this system are a) don’t hang up and b) don’t call 911 for more information. In the event of an actual emergency, they’ll be a little busy, and folks should use radios or TV to find out more details of the situation.

For those of us who haven’t had land lines since, oh, 1999, is there a part of the plan that addresses those residents who onlyl have mobile phones? Just curious :).
