Tubas and Kazoos and Carols, oh my!
Doing their part to keep Portland weird, event organizers for our living room have arranged a couple of events that can best be described as odd.
Mixed in with the Artisan Market events, we have Tuba Christmas on the 9th (and if that wasn’t enough they’ll be doing one in Salem Christmas Eve). This is one of a series of events (including Octubafest) for the Harvey Phillips Foundation.
Should Tubas not be your thing, there is an alternative: Kazoo Christmas! Now these folks are not a kazoo choir, they are actually hoping to (on the spot) collect a kazoo caroling choir (say THAT three times fast!) to kazoo some carols on Saturday the 16th. If you don’t have a kazoo, even better, they are selling them there, the whole thing is a “raiser” (both awareness and fund) for Kinship House, a resource for foster kids going into homes either as foster children or adopted children (Yay adopted kids!)
So if you have had your fill of Singing Christmas Trees and the junior high holiday concert doesn’t do it for you anymore, head to Pioneer Square. I’m betting it’ll be your first concert of this kind, and might even be a new Christmas tradition!

Yay, adopted kids!

Actually, “It’s A Kazoo Christmas” is indeed a kazoo choir that we’ve built, though there’s still room to join if anyone is interested (two practices are scheduled for next week - info at http://www.itsakazoochristmas.com )
We’re selling kazoos during the event as a way of raising money for the Kinship House.
Of course, if people were to want to buy a kazoo and then kazoo along with us during the event, they’d certainly be welcome to! That’d be awesome.
P.S. Yay indeed for adopted kids, and for the Kinship House!
