Big Geezers + Dandy Warhols = Pure Joy
We went to the Wonder Ballroom last Friday night for one of the best shows I have been to in awhile. Billed as a “A live meeting of Bigger Geezers,” it was a show with a show. While the Dandy Warhols played a seriously awesome set, over on the side, a group of artists were putting their work down on canvas. I can’t describe how cool it was to watch them first individually take on a canvas and then start doing their style on the other canvases. This created a montage of styles and just pure awesomeness. The artists - The London Police, Sam Flores, David Choe, Galo, and Jeremy Fish were amazing. I don’t know what it takes to paint continuously for 2+ hrs, but I could see a couple of them shaking out the cramps in their hands.
Oh, and the Dandys were spot on! They played some tunes from an upcoming album which were vintage Dandy style. They played all their pop songs much to the joy of the crowd. They even did some of the trademark psych rock we all just zone out to. Add that to the art and you’re cookin’ with gas.
Thank you Dandys. We should do it again sometime.

One of THE BEST Dandys shows I’ve ever seen. I wish all their shows were this awesome! Sure, they may get more psychedelic, but it was such a mellow, groovy scene, I couldn’t have possibly asked for a better show.
