Downtown Is A Mess

Traffic is a bear downtown. Thank goodness I have an alternative bus route that skirts me away from the mess. I take the 70 south on SE 11th and then catch the 9 or 17 over the Ross island Bridge to the office. It’s easy. But today I had a car and had to skirt around all the downtown construction for the new light rail. What a mess.

Is anyone doing a photo documentation of the traffic hell and ongoing construction for the light rail and new transit center? It would be cool to see the progress in pictures. Maybe show how much we put up with?

I do fear that our traffic in Portland is starting to seem like Seattle’s hell. That’s a bummer. I hope the shiny, new tlight rail will be worth it. When is it supposed to be done? 2009? Groan.

I love light rail. I’m a big supporter. But this traffic is a nightmare.

My hope is that all the traffic weenies take the light rail, once it’s built, leaving the avenues and boulevards to people who know what American is built on: cars, the more muscular the better.
