New Seasons Is Seven Years Old Next Week

New Seasons Turns Seven

I was talking to my good friend, Marshall Kirkpatrick today. He said, “Hey, New Seasons is turning seven. You should blog about that.”

Damn right.

Who is not a New Seasons fan? You pay a bit more but dang, they are locally owned. They support regional farmers. And I know I can go there and be assured that I am getting food that is not genetically modified in some weird science sort of way.

I love New Seasons! Happy birthday!

By the way, the folks at New Seasons gave me the hat. I didn’t ask for it as a freebie. I was ready to shell out the $10. I told them I am wearing different hats for the videos I am doing at SplashCast. First show I wore a Powell’s hat. Next is New Seasons. They said, “well, in that case, the hat is on us!”

Hello? Can you say customer for life?

I also love New Seasons! I go up to the Raliegh Hills location.

I recently discovered Market of Choice up in Burlingame, which is also pretty cool, great product.

I wish either would come into NW Portland or the Pearl… however, I imagine from their perspectives this area has plenty of grocery stores. I feel though that given the density, the area would support either… also their only specific competition would be Whole Foods.

Happy birthday, New Seasons! Too bad you didn’t buy all the Wild Oats stores today, instead of Whole Foods. Our town would be much better off with a bunch more New Seasons.

You wonder about the Pearl or NW. I heard from a reliable source that Safeway and Fred Meyers are planning large stores in the Pearl in the coming years. They will be on the “outer edges” of the Pearl around NW 10 and Marshal or so. That may be why New Seasons is holding back.

They are putting in a Safeway at NW Marshall but between 12th and 13th…
