Early May Day tagging
There is a soundwall door by my house that someone has taken on as their own little art project. I have seen now three different paintings on the door. The city or state usually get by weekly to clean it up, so I had to snap this before the painters came. Well, happy early May day. And remember…..The struggle continues (even though you run our of painting space.)

Please stop gloryifing vandalism by exhibiting in on your blog. This only encourages criminals.
Do you seriously believe the taggers are looking at Portland Metblogs and getting their rocks off?

No, they are not “getting their rocks off.” But, yes, I believe they are probably looking at your blog (or links to it) and recognizing a sense of validation for what they are doing. Encouragement. So stop exhibiting their vandalism, unless you are willing to help clean it up. (I don’t see you volunteering for that.)
You know me Ben? Seriously, because if you do, then you know your last statement is ass. Don’t make general assumptions about people by what you read on blogs. Go out and engage them. Only I have the right to make general assumptions about people. (that last sentence meant sarcastically.)
(if you do indeed know me, identify yourself.)
I believe taggers find much satisfaction from mentions on blogs such as this one. In fact, they even have their own forums:

(I didn’t include the actual link to the Portland section of “12 ounce prophet” because unless you have high-speed, it will freeze up your computer. You can look it up if you like.)
Posts like this one are ignorant to the problem of graffiti at best.
I like it.
Boy Diesel — yes, please provide us with proof that you are out there scrubbing off the vandalism to which you have pointed. Pictures will provide sufficient proof. Show your face — don’t be shy.
I persoanlly think this is the best piece that dieselboi has done, way more intelligent than those horses on the curb that you done. This is a really statement. Thankyou for brightening up the neighborhood, and those boring soundwalls, they feel like I’m in Palestine…

> they feel like I’m in Palestine…
A place I’m sure that you are too cowardly to actually visit. So shut up.
BEN ! can I call you son, there are so many places I have been that you don’t no about, ask your mom, and call me DAD.
First off, Ben, I have nothing to prove to you or anyone else. I live my life according to my own morals and values and you as my reader just have to accept that. You may not like it, but you have to accept it. Also, show my face? How hard is it to figure out who someone is online.
Oh, and I love that you are calling me out when you post anonymously. Oh well.
Bio-dieselboi, I’m not understanding the reference between the horse project and my post about tagging. elaborate or just post that you were being sarcastic and I just don’t get it. thanks.
I live next to this art, and I love it. I see it every day, it’s right by my house. I think I know who is doing it, and they are awesome people. What about this work is so offensive? The fact that it’s on “public” property? Maybe the city would make better use of it’s time cleaning up the heaps of garbage and weeds that are gathered around that door. “Criminals”…Please. *scoffs*
Up with public art! We’re subjected to endless billboards selling us a product for profit. Hooray for someone sharing an idea for the future!
Good on you, dieselboi. Thank you for helping to exhibit this public art (which some disparage and dismiss as “graffiti”) to a wider audience. It certainly brightened my day to see this on May 1st. Kudos to the artist.
For the people who wonder, the art is no longer there. It has been painted over by either the city or ODOT (not sure who maintains the soundwalls.) This in part to my submitting the photo to Graffiti abatement last week.
