Don’t you dare forget that this Saturday is the sixth annual Free Comic Book Day, and chances are your local comic book store is participating in the event.

Free. Comics. ’nuff said.

There are a ton of books this year, and I have it on good authority that the Spider-Man book is pretty awesome, though there will be indy books as well for those of you not inclined to the flying-men-in-tights genre.

And as an addendum to Kai’s recent post about snobby store clerks, I don’t know which comic stores she’s been to in town, but I can pretty much guarantee a lack of attitude at Bridge City Comics in N. Portland, my personal purveyor of all things comic-related.

And hopefully, if we get it done in time, most of your favorite comic shops should have flyers andhandbills for this year’s charity Serenity screenings.

We know for certain that TFAW Hollywood will, because some of us will be there cajoling people to walk across the street to the theatre and buy their tickets.

My experience with comic books stores was more Seattle related. I lived with a guy that worked at Golden Age Collectables http://www.goldenagecollectables.com/ in Pike Place Market. It was an awesome shop but the guys he worked with were very snobby and definitely lived in their mom’s basement. So far my experience in Portland has been very positive and I really like Things From Another World. I get my collectables there.

    Sorry, didn’t mean to generalize.

that’s okay– i’m well acquainted with Golden Age and some of the dudes that work there, so I understand the impression they may have made.
