Can’t Stop the Serenity 2007 next week
Another year, another Serenity benefit showing just around the corner. Can’t Stop the Serenity 2007, the second year of this cool charity function, is set to flood the Hollywood Theatre with Browncoats June 22 (7pm doors open, movie starts at 8pm) and June 23 (1pm doors open, movie starts at 2pm). The cost of the tickets is $13 in advance and $18 at the door - they can be purchased online.
What’s cool about this - apart from the fact it is a Joss Whedon masterpiece on the big screen - is that while primarily a benefit for Equality Now, 10% of ticket proceeds will go to support the Women’s Film Initiative. It looks like as well a special guest at the talk before the movie Friday night will be Scott Allie, Joss Whedon’s editor at Dark Horse Comics. My wife and I will be there Friday night - how about you?

Whee. And we’ll be handbilling and postering this weekend.
But don’t wait for that. Buy your tickets now!
Oh, and for you Buffy fans (yes, I’m secure enough in my masculinity to publicly count myself in those ranks), there’s the Buffy sing-a-long those same evenings at Cinema 21:

They’ve scheduled the showings not to conflict with the Serenity fund-raisers and they’re donating $1 from each Buffy ticket to the charity, too.
