Summer Concert Series

One of the nice things about Portland is all that green space we have to lounge around in. I especially love it when we put it to good use and stimulate even more of our senses, that’s why as we dive headfirst into summer I’m really excited about one of my favorite parts of the whole heated part of the year.

Portland Parks & Recreations FREE Summer Concerts.

I love concerts. I love parks. I love free. Oh, I win, especially since one of the parks holding concerts is a lovely stroll from my house. You can bet my family will be there with a picnic ready to enjoy the music.

The concerts are being held in parks all over Portland so check out the full schedule and see if any of them work for you.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch (or a free concert). Somebody’s paying something – and it’s usually Joe and Jane Taxpayer getting more $ taken out of their pocket for frills like free concerts and the infamous city “Get More Women on Bicycles” department, while PDX’s infrastructure crumbles to bits.

Do you do birthday parties, Rah?

There *will be* free theatre performances in Washington Park later this summer – and I can tell you right now that *I’m* the one helping to foot the bill for it – well, me and the other parents paying for theatre camp for our young thespians, that is. Or the families helping to build the sets, sew the costumes or help provide props.

Or the companies that buy advertising in the program and/or choose to help subsidize the performances by their donations.

I’d be careful, though – there’s a mean tornado fixing to rip up a house and smack it right down on a wicked witch skulking about. Might want to steer clear of Washington Park in mid-July, RAH…!
