Transit snafu alert: Providence Bridge Pedal this weekend
I have a wedding to go to Sunday morning on the other side of town (and then the reception has us crossing the river back to the east side…). No big deal, right? Um, yeah - it definitely is a Big Deal if it’s on the Providence Bridge Pedal weekend.
Thankfully, the hyper-prepared bride paid more attention to the calendar and/or news than I did, and sent this message around to the guests via email earlier this week.
In case any of you are being efficient and organized by doing your mapquest maps in advance to travel to and from our wedding I need to let you know that Portland’s Bridge Pedal is also happening that day. So in addition to there being even more cyclists than usual out on the streets, the Fremont Bridge will be closed for travel from the Eastside to (insert wedding location here - what, you think I’m going to tell you all where we’ll be…?) - so make sure you figure out a route using the Broadway Bridge instead.
Yes, the Providence Bike Pedal - a laudable affair, to be sure - will nevertheless make spaghetti of our travel options on what would normally be a sleepy Sunday morning.
Want the full details of just how it might impact you, you, YOU? See the looong list of notices on this OLive blog post..

Thanks,
I have to go to work every day on the other side of town, and all those cars in the way make spaghetti of my bike ride on what would otherwise be a pleasant, quiet, day without car exhaust spewing in my face. I even have to figure out a route when I can’t use half the bridges in this city.
