I also just heard Will Straw describe garage sales as "Museums of Failure." I like that.

Thanks for the URL, what a great blog.

I love the phrase "urban ore". And, I really want the "Jewbacca" t-shirt. Too funny.

Jon, you have to check out www.yardsalebloodbath.com. It's a garage/yard/estate sale blog from Seattle that's really well done. What I can't figure out is what they do with all their finds. I don't know if they run a store, or just collect things like those crazy people who have to clear out paths in their homes through the piles of newspapers and styrofoam meat liners that have been building up for years. The blog almost makes me miss living in Seattle, but then again not so much. Don't worry about the double post. It happens.

It might be interesting to see an article comparing some of the various sites that provide listings for sales. There are a bunch out there. If you are interested, email me and I can help point the way.

(Also, sorry for the double post earlier. My bad.)

Jon, thanks for the heads-up. I am always looking for resources. Guess I'll have to head out this weekend and see what people are getting rid of.

I forgot to add to thriftmapper has all the same features, including maps and such, but also allows you to search on neighborhoods and distance from one particular sale.

gsalr.com is a good site, but you might also want to take a look at thriftmapper.com. Its a great site and is run locally. Thriftmapper gets about 200 sales per week and was even mentioned in Willamette Week as part of their Best of Portland issue.
