Stumptown goes the extra mile(s) for you!
So if you’re local, you know all about Stumptown Coffee. If you don’t, here’s the scoop: They rule. Portland has known this for a long time, and now the rest of the world is finding out.
Stumptown is part of an article released by the New York Times about the lengths some people go to in order to have good coffee. They talk about direct trade which is when the roaster buys directly from the farm or co-op, not from a broker.
There are not a lot places who do this but it’s getting more common. Once again Portland is way out ahead of the curve, with the Stumptown site already having a section on source trips and video from different places they’ve been.
Even better than the fact that we’re in the Times (again!) is the fact that the article itself is, as of right now, the fourth most emailed story on their site. Go Stumptown!
I’d also like to thank TheO’s Twitter feed for the tip. Thanks TheO!
