Lesson of the day: Do Not Cross the Odwalla/Calistoga Stream

calistoga_mineral_waterIt’s been a while since I watched G-bustaz, so I forgot about stream-crossing. Today, I remembered when I crossed the Odwalla/Calistoga MINERAL WATER stream. Do not do this. You drink the Calistoga straight or with a some juice (my preferred method), but never, ever, ever, EVA cross that stream.

By the way, I capitalized MINERAL WATER (Lesson of the Day 2) up there b/c when I ask for this drinkodwalla people seem to think I mean “Vitamin water” or whatever. Dude, look at the picture…it comes from German (Mineral Wasser) and French (eau minerale – please turn up your nose when saying this). Them bubbles is good for ya, therefore, it is mineral water, and apparently that mineral is sodium :)

PS. I highly recommend Calistoga and Odwalla. I purchase these at several places (we did not have these back in fly-over land).

Places to buy Calistoga: Zupans, Wild Oats, the place I bought this one (grocery-market spot on SW 4th and Washington–thanks for restocking the cooler, friends!).

Places to buy Odwalla: Every decent store in Portland that sells beverages…like Stumptown for instance.

So…. What happens if you cross the streams?

“So…. What happens if you cross the streams?”

In Ghostbusters, I think it can either end the world or you blow up the stay-puff marshmellow man.

In Portland, if you cross the Calistoga-Odwalla stream, you man it up I guess or you do like me and pour that out.

Extending the metaphor, there must be at least one dire circumstance in which crossing the streams in fact the correct course of action. And what would that be?

Calistoga is pretty low-end mineral water – they add CO2 to make it bubbly. The main mineral in real mineral water is Calcium, not Sodium, and my prefered mineral water is GEROLSTIENER, which you can get by the bottle or by the case at Trader Joe’s.

I imagine you get a bubbly foamy odwalla.

Instructions on where to buy odwalla and calistoga? I realize some of us don’t get out much… but really.. is this your perception of your audience? Whats next? Instructions on where to buy Coke? (your odwalla owner btw…)

get a blender… make your own “odwalla” Most of those odwalla/naked blends are just white grape juice filled ripoffs.

This is a dangerous game my friend…so, you make first move (second, I believe R. Kelly made the first). In ghostbusters, they only crossed the streams to kill that giant marshmallow-man, and so bill murray could get laid.

    Leif,

Agreed. This is what is available at this place on SW 3rd and Wash…and then there is “talking rain”…or “talking sh**”. Also, I like a little lemon/lime flavor. Gerol doesn’t have that if I’m going straight water.

Lastly, it bothers me (the same with beer) to but those large bottles everyday because of the energy used to create that bottle is probably 5 times what is it is to create the plastic (which is 30 times paper, 50 times foam). BUT, i do agree, that is tasty and bottle is straight class.

cool…got a good recipe or link to one you like…

as for perception of my audience and me telling you where to buy odwalla…well, not something i originally put in there but…well…well…wow, tht is who;e big story…so if you are in portland, there you go if you want that bubbly odwalla…

“and so bill murray could get laid.” Seriously, if that is the dire situation, there is going to be a lot of stream crossing.

Mayhap you should cross the streams when you only have really low grade vodka or rum on hand, then maybe you need to cross streams, Odwalla being a bit thick for a mixed beverage.

I can think of at least 5 quick movies where the point is for bill murray to get laid…

    g-bustaz
    groundhog day
    broken flowers
    rushmore
    lost in translation

    and it continues

my favorite bill murray is in “coffee and cigerettes” and everyone should see this…GZA, RZA and Bill Murray…plus Tom Waits vs Iggy Pop, and Tom Waits makes fun of him for about 5 minutes straight.
