hyper attentiveness can be annoying. Glad you had good tasting water. It's awful when a place serves water with bleach overtones.

Water water everywhere. The substance of life.
But too much water can kill...

On a recent vist to Ruth Chris' Steakhouse down on SW 3rd Avenue in the heart of Portland we had a group meeting of about 10. They don't serve tap water, but two kinds of bottled water, kept chilled by the table. One has bubbles(Pelligrino),the other bubbleless. One of our table guests pleasantly told the aquarian water medium that water with bubbles gave him gas.

I call him a medium because of his seeing abilities to know when your designer water glass was not full, but down to medium. And then refill.

By the way, the bigshot at the table recommended the cowboy cut/ bone in...I ordered the T-bone
and was not disappointed. All that superb water helped digest that great meal. Bon Apetite!

At least the water guy usually doesn't ask incessantly how everything is and just fills the glass. I swear the wait staff wait (ha-yuck) until you've just shoved something in your mouth before coming over to ask. I'm fine with the water guy hanging around, especially if I ordered something spicy.

This drives me crazy too! I saw a joke about this on teevee once- the diner finally put his hand over the glass and said, "Whoa there! I like the feeling of progress!" I always think about that with over-attentive waterboys.

That happened to us at a nice place in Seattle. After we all emptied our glasses right after sitting down, the waiter made a funny joke about water and brought us two pitchers. This wasn't the type of place that would even have pitchers of water, but he made the exception for us. Great Service.
