So, we hit up Freddy’s last night to get some tofurkey, bread, cheese, chips, paper towels and cottage cheese. Yep, we’re prepared.

I didn’t buy beer. I figured that if Stormaggedon came, the challenge would be to go find beer!

Your biggest concern would be roads blocked by fallen trees or mudslides. Stick to the major routes through the coast range, and be prepared for delays. Take food, water, flashlights and blankets, and you’re good to go.

I say go for it! Just drive carefully, allow extra time to get there, and tell the hotel you are staying at that you may be checking in late. Its worth the show. And why not have a great show for your 30th birthday. Its much better than a titty bar with $10 beers.

Prepared? Hardly. Just bought my first hat, scarf & gloves in 20 years. My short sleeved t-shirt and hoodie didn’t seem to keep the cold at bay this afternoon.

Ok who has been looking in my basement?? “When I say “prepared,” I don’t mean having a bomb shelter with a 3 gigawatt generator and a cache of arms and enough food and supplies for a year without sun.” minus the generator and you called this “Do you have some extra canned or packaged food in the pantry in case we get an ice storm like three years ago where one could barley walk on the sidewalk?” an ice storm I’ve been here for 41 years you should have seen it “the ICE storms” back mid to late 70’s three to six inches of ice on every thing power lines sagging three feet to six feet it was fun back then.

OK SO ya, but the thing is we will be traveling TO the coast on Sunday. Check in at 3:00pm Sunday. Thoughts? I have until Saturday at 3:00pm to cancel, but either way I have to pay for one night :( they have a 1 week and 24hrs level cancellation policies.

You think we could make it????

I second DBWife… Watching storms on the coast is amazing. Monster waves. Just stay back a safe distance! If you’ve got a place with an ocean view, you’ve got it made. Just cuddle up with a toddy and watch the show.

We just moved from Florida to get away from the kinds of winds they are forecasting!

And Kirsten is spot on. We went through 4 hurricanes, so if you think the power is going to go out, I highly recommend buying extra food for the animals (we have both beagles and cats) and out-of-the-bag snacks for yourself. I’ve also seen “oil lamps” (we called them hurricane lamps) for sale in a few places. They are great when the power dies.

Don’t forget the creatures. I lived in a hurricane evacuation zone for 22 years- beer and cat food are always at the top of my list!
