The kickers are coming! The kickers are coming!

First, MB author Pete reported his check had arrived in today’s mail in the comments to this post.

Then, a former colleague reported her check via Twitter.

Now that I’ve had two independents sightings, I’m calling it: checks are in the mail, people! And from what I’m hearing, they’re ready to be deposited upon receipt, no less.

It’s a damned good thing – I broke down and bought that iPod Touch yesterday…!

Update: Actually, my check’s not in the mail. It’s now in my hot little hands, and will shortly be deposited in my bank account.

Of course I will take and deposit mine, but it’s still a really dumb law and it hurts Oregon.

2 of the 3 OnPoint ATMs were no longer accepting deposits at 9th and NE Broadway, when I swung by around 5pm to deposit my kicker check. There were several people in line for one machine as the other two were ignored. As each new person walked up and clearly wondered why we were all waiting for the one machine, the last person in line would tell them that the other 2 were full and not accepting kicker checks. It was a nice Oregon moment of public togetherness, as we all realized that we were suffering from kicker check-mania.

Two words for the state of Oregon: DIRECT DEPOSIT
