Russell Shaw, the blogosphere will miss you

News came today that Russell Shaw [1], a former Portland Metblogger, passed away on Friday. Russell, a Portlander, was very prolific in the blogosphere writing for sites like CNET, The Huffington Post and ZDNet. I met Russell a few years ago at a meetup at the former Rose and Raindrop when I joined Metblogs. He was already entrenched in the blogosphere having started blogging for Metblogs in November of 2004 [2]. During his tenure here he wrote 350+ posts over 3 1/2 years. Just a couple of weeks ago, he emailed Betsy and I a story suggestion regarding the Oregonian not publishing the late edition. Russell was a good soul and was always there to jump in and throw up a post when things were a little quiet. He will be missed by many in the blogosphere who read his writings across the many sites where his work was published. CNETs post on Russell Shaw. [3] Russell’s posts on Metblogs. [4]

Alex Williams has some wonderful thought on Russ over on his site [5].
