Tickle your funny bone

So last night was the first of a 2 night stint for Eddie Izzard playing here in Portland. From what I know, it’s sold out, but I’ve still heard that a lot of people are looking for tickets. If I wasn’t so broke from my move here, I’d go again!

That’s right ladies and jellyspoons, Eddie Izzard is on tour and here! I’m personally a huge fan and I got my tickets WAY back in March… during my honeymoon… in London. Kinda pathetic, I know, but as soon as I heard the pre-sale date, I marked it on my calendar. So there I was, in London, in March… emailing friends here in Portland to see who else wanted to go with me. Well, it paid off!

I personally thought that this show was better than the last tour. He’s gotten more political and he definitely never skirts around how he feels about things, which, I felt, he put out there more this tour than during any other.

Last night I overheard a girl telling her friends that she just got a ticket for $20! This was about half an hour before the show. So, if your interested in going, you can always check with the venue to see if any tickets were released or even see if anyone is trying to sell tickets that they cannot use.

If you’re interested in going, I highly recommend you look into finding tickets for the show tonight.
Eddie Izzard is playing the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall at 8pm.

I thought tonight was the first night…? I got my tickets presale, and have some pretty awesome seats. I’ve been looking forward to this since March! So excited!! My friends in Mass looked into going to his show in Boston, but the cheapest tickets there were >$100.

I LOVE Eddie Izzard – but I was a bit scared off by the price so I didn’t get tickets. Scoring some last minute cheap ones would be awesome. If not you’ll have to fill us in on how it was at the next meetup!

i wish this blog would tell me about upcoming events, instead of blogging about stuff that already happened and i’ve missed by the time i read about it (or is sold out by the time i read about it). a lot of awesome stuff is discussed here.

"Dude! It was awesome! You should of been there!"

    "yeah, thanks.."

I hear you Jomo. It’s a big peeve of mine as well. Most blogs aren’t geared towards "upcoming" type announcements. They are usually post-event style review, and that’s it.

Watching upcoming.org can sometimes help. Scanning the wweek and mercury on Wednesday is usually a good summary on whats happening for the week. I also get spammed by ticketmaster/ticketwest/etc for upcoming shows as well.

Thats my method, any other suggestions beside being on a million fan mail lists?

    jomo & chris –

Thanks for those comments. As one of the other authors I often wonder when I decide to write about something if I should do it pre- or post. The Pre- advantage of course being that it can alert people to upcoming things – the post that I can speak about how good or bad something was and give a bit of a review.

The best of both worlds of course being like capricious’ post here where she reviewed night one, but posted in time for people to get to night two. But thanks for that feedback – I will totally keep it in mind!

I wasn’t familiar with Izzard so I had a good time watching him on youtube. Thanks for the comedian intro.

Must of been a good show. The guy is hilarious.
