This weekend was one of those that started with a show on Friday night and didn’t stop until karaoke at 1am on Monday morning. While there were downtimes to watch some football, the nightlife has me still dealing with sleep deprivation. I made a new friend though and that makes it all worth it.
It started with Spindrift playing at the East End. They are one of the bands we always try and see when they roll through town. They have a devoted following including a woman we know who comes from England whenever they go on tour. This weekend another friend from the interweb came to Portland to see them and we made fast friends over some beers and live music. Saturday night offered up yet more live music and a night 1am walk through downtown and over to the east side. Portland is quiet and beautiful that late even thought it was damp and cold. Breaking – Spindrift may be the star tonight
So, we’re heading to a show this evening at Berbati’s The headliner is Dead Meadow, a great rock band what does what is currently called psych rock. We’re going for Dead Meadow, but more for Spindrift, a wonderful band that plays spaghetti western music. Yup! They have written a soundtrack to a spaghetti western movie ala The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The Legend of God’s Gun is a great listen.
Oh, but wait, I just read over at blogtown that Dead Meadow may be “dead.” Dead Meadow without the lead singer? I’m hoping this isn’t true and the show will go on. Hope to see you there.
