…and after a day that started by setting off the alarm at the office at 8 am, I’m more than ready for an adult beverage. Thanks to the new Google Maps mashup Unthirsty.com, I could find a happy hour near me at the click of a mouse - including ones that are available right now. (If only I could locate a babysitter for these pesky kids as easily!)

If you want to get specific, you can search on places offering food specials, or free wifi. Find places with patio seating. And if your favorite place is missing? Add it to the map yourself.

Their mantra is a simple one:

Unthirsty is the work of a group of like-minded souls who were always struggling (for obvious reasons) to remember where and when they last enjoyed that good happy hour. A plan of action was drawn up on beer sodden napkins over bargain pints and some mighty fine nachos. Thus, Unthirsty was launched and dedicated to the good of all mankind’s legally drinking denizens.

This legally drinking denizen sends thanks to Jason for tipping me off to the site. As he said in his email, ” It’s been a lot of fun, and we’re just glad that we can use it, which is why we built it. Hopefully other people will like it too.”
