Crisis in North Portland
Over on BikePortland, Jonathon has a post up asking North Portland to get together and talk about recent issues with bikes, attacks and teens. You may not have seen the news recently, but a couple of women who were riding north on N. Williams were knocked off their bikes by a group of teen girls who then proceeded to gang up and attack the women. It only stopped when someone driving by stopped and broke it up. As with most incidents recently, not one “saw” anything and the individuals got away. Both women were pretty beat up. Initially, this was a bike vs. people story. But after it was discussed on BikePortland, there were numerous posts where other people shared stories of being attacked, intimidated, or chased by groups of “ethnic” teens in North Portland. (I use the term “ethnic” because one of the commenters used it.)
I am troubled by this. I have lived up here now for awhile and never felt intimidated. Granted, I’m a big guy, so that may help me. Yet I’m also troubled that this issue is coming out via blogs. When individuals are attacked or chased or intimidated, are they then proceeding to report the issue to the police? To the neighborhood? To the news? Or are they blogging about it. If they were reporting it, I would think it would be a bigger story out there in non-internet land. I wonder if the story is actually being reported, but being swept under the rug (so to speak.)
One thing I have to commend Jonathon for is asking people to get together in person and work this out. Instead of commenting or writing on blogs, he suggests getting everyone together to figure out the issues and try and work through them. Way to go and good luck.

In several of the comments at BikePortland, people have indicated getting a runaround from the police when trying to follow-up and report an incident. There’s also an indication that no police report has as yet been filed on the most recent assault.
Sad to say, but I suspect this type of assault (”Hey, someone run up and smacked me while I was riding my bike”) is not a high priority for the Portland Police Department.
You’re right: This seems to be morphing into a “blacks attack” story–in part, thanks to the lack of editing on the blogs, and I’m glad you’ve called it as you see it. The word “ethnic” is dicey in the extreme.
And on a separate note, Diesel, you are, indeed, a great big guy. I’m only 5′11″ but often wish I had an extra 3 inches…I commend you for your physical stature.

The morphing into a “blacks attack” but using the term “ethnic” story seems to be rampant in the white male blogging world as of late. It bothers me, too. I agree that Jonathan is to be commended in urging people to get together and talk about it: I haven’t seen any succesful discussions about race and/or racism on the blogs, only flame wars….it certainly doesn’t make me want to participate when that happens.
You are correct Lelo. It is such a tough subject to discuss in this city that no one wants to take it head on. Not even me. I challenged the anarchists who want to leave trash on their front lawn and was accused of being Hitler.
I do think it is a neighborhood challenge that the neighborhood needs to work with.

I’ve lived in the boise neighborhood since the 1984. I was riding my bike by unthank park in 1988 when I was chased by a group of black teenage boys who were hollaring at me and trying to grab at my bike. I managed to get away without injury and did call the police when I got home. the police came to my home and took a report. the police officer made herself very clear in letting me know how dangerous it was for me to ride in the area I was traveling. she said that if I must insist on riding my bike through the neighborhood (commuting back and forth to work in se) that I travel higher traffic roads, such as skidmore, mlk etc. also, during that same era a friend of mine who lived in piedmont was attacked by a group of black teenagers who nearly got her bike in the struggle but she fought back and got a way(she was a strong tall dyke).

in this neighborhood, the kinda random violence experienced by those unlucky riders used to be WAY more common. incidents like this happened on a frequent basis, often never reported to the police, or at least never offically filed by the police even when reported.
the fact is that there is still an air of violence in the neighborhood. but its WAY less of an issue these days.
you don’t need to even worry about race to explain what happened.
teens are angry and fight everywhere, rich or poor, black or white. sadly, because of a combination of poverty and racial issues, this area got REALLY VIOLENT for a stretch- but its climbing out of it.
Diesel–why does it frighten you that I’m jealous of your grand physical stature? Is this something you’d prefer I kept quiet about? I don’t get it.

I ride with my young daughter in tow through these neighborhoods all the time. I haven’t experienced anything, but it distresses me that there’s an air of helplessness. That all too often leads to bad results.
Force. That is the one thing Congoids understand quite clearly in those dim little minds of theirs. Laugh if you want, but the next time a gang of these savages corners you, remember what I say.
Some time back, I was riding the Interstate MAX. This ugly arrogant monkey was happily rapping at top volume and beating on the windows with his huge fists. He was also going out of his way to physically intimidate any and all Whites on the train, going so far as to push around and bully a severely disabled man in a wheelchair. When my turn came, I stared right in his soul-less eyes and showed him that I was carrying a knife. He quickly got off the train, showing a suprising amount of wisdom.
I have also made sure the blue-gums around my house know that I will shoot them in a heartbeat if they break in and threaten my life, as is their custom. I don’t get broken into, though they will steal anything not nailed down from the yard the moment I have to go to the store or something.
But, they don’t break in, and they leave me alone for the most part face-to-face, except for the crackheads too far gone to remember just how nasty I can be when antagonized.
Quite simply, you won’t get anywhere by trying to reason with them. You will stand a much higher chance of surviving an encounter by letting them know with body language that you are prepared to defend yourself with your bare fists if you have to. Remember, you are dealing with creatures roughly humanoid in form, but hundreds of thousands of years behind you on the scale of human evolution. See, this Evolution “liberals” love to crow about is a very real process that has demonstrable effects on our species. Pure-blooded Congoids have an average IQ of 70, Caucasians, about 103. Mixed-race American Negro hybrids average about 85 or so. The standard cut-off for mental retardation is 75. Dr. Arthur Jensen, in his famous rebuttal to some of the more idiotic and disingenuous criticisms of “The Bell Curve,” went as fas as to flatly state that this is because Congoids have much smaller and less complex brains relative to body mass when compared to any other race.
This fact, coupled with much higher amounts of testosterone, explains much of their horrible behavior wherever they go, and why their communities have failed to improve in any way, shape, or form after vast amounts of our money has been poured into them. If you look at the FBI’s Uniform Crime Statistics, you will find that Congoids so outrageously over-represent their numbers in violent crime reports, that the no doubt horribly embarrassed compilers of the statistics have begun to include Latinos as White in order to try and skew the numbers.
It ain’t working, you know ? More and more people are waking up to the danger that 30 million savages running around loose present to the more evolved races in our country every day, and our numbers are multiplying exponentially. Latinos, Asians, Arabs, and Natives loathe them even more than most Whites, and with good reason.
Give any liberal a few frightening months living among Congoids in a real, dangerous, brutal ghetto, and they will come out a certified racially aware person, every time. It’s like a freight train all the PC brainwash in the world simply cannot stop, as demonstrated by this and countless other blogs all around the world.

I don’t expect WD to actually read it, both because it contradicts his own bias, and because it has lots of really long words in it. But perhaps the general thrust of the paper can be summarized in this paragraph:

My IQ has been measured from 132 to well over 150, depending on the test. Ad-hominem attacks only make you look like a fool. Fortunately, for the most part, Portland is an incredibly White city, giving you relatively few opportunities to educate yourself on the real-life behavior of the savages we are forced to subsidize.

Hitler would no doubt be horrified to find that this same study, “The Bell Curve,” as well as many others, demonstrates that Jews and Asians tend to be much more intelligent than Whites. There is ample evidence that there is some Jewish blood on the peasant German side of my ancestry. Then again, many of the early National Socialists, exemplified by Hannussen, had strong Jewish ties, strangely enough.
You still haven’t engaged in any intelligent discourse on why, oh, Congoids failed to ever develop a written language or invent the wheel, even after albeit limited contact with markedly superior races such as the West Africans that came to be known as “Egyptians.” Or, on why the Aboriginals managed to reproduce for 50,000 years without ever suspecting that there might be a casual connection between sexual intercourse and birth.

So there I am on Kirby and Williams at 130 a.m. and the street is littered with chunks of burnt wood from the church fire. A car load of scruffy beards,70’s tennis shoes..you know the uniform of late. They get out without bothering to even look up at the chaos and destruction as they drag themselves up the stairs… I do not wonder why kids like this are a target for young BLACKS on the street. The marching hordes of WHITE kids between college and the parents money running out don’t seem to give a damn about anything but cheap rent and new hipster dives, they came from the midwest and most will end up in the suburbs.
I’m WHITE and they piss me off and I have lived in this area for 10 years and have never had any trouble whatsoever,but then again I grew up in a urban city and it appears most of these kids grew up in a soft WHITE cul de sac of one sort or another which would leave them dumb enough to ride a $3000 down Williams at night. I don’t like to see anyone get hurt but come on people open your eyes and see your effect on this area, take some responsibility …and while your at it make some BLACK friends.
