Confused But Tolerant

One of the things I love about Portland is how easy-going we are (for the most part). BIke Portland tossed a post up about a local shop owner/racer’s profile in the nationally-circulated Bicycling Magazine. In the comments at BP, a commentor expressed pronoun confusion, and upon clarification of Molly’s gender identification basically went ‘oh’. I’m leaving town soon, and that flexibility of thought is something I’m going to miss. Not that New York doesn’t have a healthy LGBT community, but I worry about everyone else’s tolerance.

A few days ago, while driving home from Chez Jos√©, I ran across the Teeming Masses playing a rehearsal session on the corner of Pacific and NE 20th. A bit of Dead-style jamming, a bit of Presidents of the United States style vocals; an altogether pleasant way to spend fifteen or twenty minutes. I suggest you hop on over to their site and download some free music, unencumbered by DRM.

Casting Call

This is for aspiring actors, or people who just want to be in the movie filming over at the Fresh Pot.
The production company responsible for hiring extras plans on holding an open casting call this Sunday at the Clinton Street Theatre. They’re looking for anyone 18+ who has a few days to put in in late August and September. Show up at 12 or 2. Not in between, but at twelve, or at two.

I’m finally fed up with the OLCC. Before you out me for being underage, this has nothing to do with drinking and everything to do with Form of Government. Don’t be that guy who reads one sentence and then makes an idiotic comment, read.

Tonight, I went to my favorite place for BBQ in this city, Tennessee Red’s. But they wouldn’t let me play pool, or my brother play pinball because it’s gambling.

Hang on a sec. No it’s not. That shit’s ludicrous and you know it. This is the same bullshit that the Old Boy’s Network pulls time and time again. They don’t want blacks opening clubs downtown (right in line with some of our readers), their directors drive drunk, and OH THAT’S RIGHT, THEY HAVE A MONOPOLY ON LIQUOR IN THE STATE OF OREGON.

WTF, people? When did Puritanism take control?
