48hr Film Project Recap

Wow! What a crazy evening. The Hollywood theatre was packed. The line outside the theatre was buzzing with excitement. You could hear all the different crews talking about their films while waiting for the doors to open. When the doors finally did open it was a mad dash to get seats. People were saving whole rows for the group they had brought with them. When the lights dimmed and the show started the audience was still giddy with excitement. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house. That kind of makes sense because one of the awards is audience favorite. Which is too bad because that makes it a bit of a popularity contest. Meaning the more people you can get inside to root for your film the better. People were dragging their friends and family inside. Luckily a panel of judges gives the other awards away. It was pretty obvious which movies were the best.

Most of the films were pretty good. A few really stunk and two of the films kicked ass! (The musical and the mockumentary.) Everyone was so happy after the screenings. Lots of handshaking back slapping and even a few cigars. I can’t blame them. Being able to put any kind of film together in 48 hours is pretty amazing.

This event is super cool and I can’t say enough good things about it. Well, maybe I could but this post is being done after maybe one too many Terminal Gravity IPA‘s.

I think the films will be available for viewing on the 48hrfp website soon. I’ll let you know.
